Leading healthcare IT company automates regression testing process to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its Electronic Medical Records application

(HSI), announced today that it will join with client Misys Healthcare Systems to present during the Quality Assurance Institute's (QAI) 27th Annual Software Testing Conference. Carl Kaufmann, automated testing manager, Misys Healthcare Systems, and David Dang, director, automation practices, Questcon, will discuss how the companies jointly initiated automated testing practices at Misys Healthcare Systems during a case study presentation titled "Automated Regression Testing Process."
Misys' electronic medical records application, Misys EMR, is sophisticated with hundreds of screens and thousands of business rules. Any changes in the software such as a new version, build or patch require EMR functionalities to be regression tested to ensure all functionalities work properly. With a sizable automation effort underway, Misys turned to Questcon to augment its staff and help implement practical approaches to optimize business processes and help the company achieve its software development objectives.
Running a regression test cycle previously took Misys as long as two to three weeks to complete and proper testing required extensive resources and time. Working with Questcon, Misys developed a framework to automate its regression testing process and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its Electronic Medical Records (EMR) application. Although complex to initially set up, this framework significantly reduced time spent later on maintenance and allows Misys to easily add additional test cases in the future. The company can now run regression test cases in just two to three days. More importantly, automating its regression testing has allowed Misys to deliver a better product to its healthcare customers.
