Questcon Technologies Promotes Software Quality at Spring 2007 Conferences

Software Quality Assurance and Process Improvement Provider Leads Discussion on Modular Test Case Design and Test Metrics

Greensboro, N.C. and Stamford, Conn. – May 8, 2007Questcon Technologies, a leading provider of software quality assurance (QA) and process improvement solutions and a division of Howard Systems International, Inc. (HSI), today announced company experts will drive discussions on emerging software development topics during spring industry conferences. Questcon’s Shaun Bradshaw, director of quality solutions, and David Dang, director of automation practices, will lend their expertise during presentations at Practical Software Quality and Testing (PSQT) West on May 9 and Software Quality Engineering’s Software Testing Analysis & Review (STAREAST) conference on May 16. Bradshaw and Dang will provide insight on ways to maximize software value and create better results, faster production cycles and lower development and maintenance costs. These engagements follow a presentation on test metrics delivered by Bradshaw at the Software Test & Performance spring conference.

At the Software Test & Performance conference, Bradshaw, a recognized industry expert on test metrics, discussed how firms can identify, institute and properly track test metrics that can empirically convey the impact of scope changes, delays and defects. The presentation addressed how consistently applying a set of well-defined test metrics to track and manage a test effort can dramatically improve the ability to effectively and objectively communicate findings across an organization and provides management with tangible evidence of how enhanced software quality affects the bottom line. Bradshaw also touched on how to generate and use techniques such as the S-Curve and Zero Bug Bounce graphs to improve an organization’s ability to manage and track current test efforts as well as future development efforts.

During PSQT West and STAREAST, Bradshaw and Dang will describe the key differences between procedural and modular test case development and explain the benefits of the modular approach. The presentations will draw parallels between the principles of modular designs in programming and those in test case development, as principles in both cases increase reusability and reduce maintenance time. Bradshaw and Dang will demonstrate how to analyze requirements, designs and the application under test to generate modular and reusable test cases.

“Software has established itself as the key competitive factor in today’s business environment and assuring its value is critical to maintaining revenue, profit and market share,” said Chris Laney, senior vice president of strategic solutions for Questcon. “Test metrics and modular test case design have emerged as important components to maintaining software quality, and Questcon is glad to lead the discussion on these topics and educate practitioners across the industry.”
